Our exemplary 5 years track record across over 20 African countries and in Zambia, is evidence of the value that we bring to the environmental and social advisory services, particularly in our deep understanding of the environmental and social challenges associated with establishing and operating facilities and infrastructure in emerging markets.

EmiAfrica staff are all exceptionally well qualified, with many being industry-recognised experts. In addition, EmiAfrica has well-developed working relationships with a number of other individual specialists and specialist consulting companies, who provide us with expertise in disciplines such as air quality impact assessments, noise impacts, heritage assessments, radiation hazard assessments, groundwater studies and health impact assessments. We have a demonstrated ability to manage EIAs for large and complex projects.

EmiAfrica has managed large and complex Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) for large international clients in over 20 Africa countries in the following sectors:

Key Personnel

The organisation consists of a multi-disciplinary team of professional consultants and project managers. They are supported by a group of full-time administrators, researchers, GIS, IT specialists and financial managers. The company also collaborates with an expanding network of long-time professional associates when necessary. The consultants have diverse skills in the natural, human, social, financial and economic environments that allow them to undertake a wide variety of work geared towards driving social and environmental through sustainable livelihood development, fostering co-responsibility for managing resources and providing support to communities, governments and the private sector.

CEO and Managing Director

Merimee is a leading expert in the field of Environmental Impact Assessments, having project-managed numerous large-scale EIAs to international standards (e.g. World Bank and International Finance Corporation). Merimee has also project managed and provided professional input to the State of Environment reports and Strategic Environmental Assessments produced by EmiAfrica.

He has also gained notable experience in the mining, power station, Road, rail, agro-industry, forestry, biofuel and palm oil sectors in South, Central, East and West Africa – in the ESIA, Resettlement Planning, ESDD, as well as the compliance and performance monitoring disciplines. During the course of his professional career Merimee has worked in USA, Australia, Angola, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, and South Africa. He recently completed an Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) training programme that was presented by the IFC.

Richard Chimbokaila

Richard has extensive experience in finance and business development. With a background in business management and administration, he is also filling the role of office Manager.

In addition, he has been involved in DLIST ASCLME and BCLME projects focusing on knowledge management and information sharing along the south of Africa. Within EmiAfrica Richard is also responsible for business administration and as Office Manager of the Kitwe Office. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing all areas of finance and administration including: payroll, accounts payable and receivables, job costing, cash management, general ledger, banking and reconciliations. He provides strategic analysis for management to determine project and company profitability and also enjoys things like problem solving, providing timely and relevant analyses, forecasting, budgeting and working as a team to grow the company.

Adam Ngangole, Msc. Phil

Technical Director

Adam was a Part time Lecturer at Apex University, Lusaka and DMI St Eugene University. His professional interests include ESIA reporting for Mining, linear, energy and large infrastructure projects, strategic environmental reporting, ESDD’s for development financing institutions, social impact assessment and resettlement planning, environmental performance and compliance monitoring. At EmiAfrica, Adam is responsible for the management of projects and specialist teams and support staff, the preparation and monitoring of project budgets in excess, as well as being responsible for the de technical direction of the EmiAfrica Lusaka, Zambia office. Adam has gained extensive environmental and social baseline study experience through the various projects involved in to date that have resettlement implications, alternatively, those that potentially impact on large numbers of people.
